Well, I am once again blogging from a hospital room, but this time it is a far more pleasant experience, since my room is the "rooming-in" suite in the NICU and my baby comes home today! We spent our first full night together last night - crazy that she's already 11 weeks old and this was our first night. Anyhow, it wasn't nearly as rough as I expected. She is, after all, a rather old little gal by now! She certainly isn't sleeping through the night, but she does sleep most of the night. However, she is a noisy sleeper - frequently grunting or fussing a little, then settling in. This made for not too much sleep for the mama, and it will be interesting to see how long it takes for Collin to readjust to his sister and her noisiness. :)
Filip survived his night at home with the three boys. I guess it's really a blessing we're now only bottle-feeding, because I don't know how that would've worked out otherwise. Within a few hours, all the odds and ends should be wrapped up over here and I'll be introducing Kendra to her family and her home. Then things will get really interesting, so say a quick prayer for us if you think of it. God is our ever-present help in time of need - a promise I will be clinging to!

Liz,
ReplyDeleteOne of the nice things about her being in the hospital is that they put her on a schedule and that generally transfers well to the home routine we found. We kept a record of the feedings (and amount of food), peed/pooped diapers and all that and it helped a lot to remember who was fed when, etc. Also when the doctor's ask how the kids are doing you have a nice thing to reference.
Here's to hoping bringing the little gal home will help! Who knows...maybe Collin has been so fussy 'cause he has been missing his sister and he will settle down too!! Wouldn't that be nice? :)
Blessings,
Heather
Just came across this:
ReplyDelete"The great thing with unhappy times is to take them bit by bit, hour by hour, like an illness. It is seldom the present, the exact present, that is unbearable.
"Remember one is given strength to bear what happens to one, but not the one hundred and one different things that might happen."
C.S. Lewis, Letter to An American Lady
You are doing such a good job of this! Not that you're in "unhappy times", but those difficulties sure do take their toll. Thank you for being such a testimony of faith and peace.
Praising the Lord with you! Your life will never be the same, but will forever be blessed with memories of miracles chosen by our amazing God especially for you and your sweet family. Praying for continued strength and peace! Love, Diane
ReplyDeleteLiz and Filip - wow, we know a fraction of a degree what you guys are going through, and I can't even imagine it times 2... I WILL be praying for you both, for patience, strength, more patience, some much needed rest, more patience, and especially the grace of God to deal with this seemingly impossible next few months. May He hold you in His ever caring hands.
